Is it safer to use a condom and birthcontrol? or....?

Is it safer to use a condom and birthcontrol? or just a condom? or just birth control? and I'm talking about not wanting to get pregnant. We (my boyfriend and i) do not have any STD's or anything, so I'm not talking about that. I just want to know if it would be safer if i used birthcontrol and a condom, rather than just a condom.
