Is it grammatically correct to capitalize pronouns?

This is probably a stupid question but some people I know capitalize pronouns [e.g. I, you, him, her etc.] and it's driving me crazy! I WOULD tell them not to but the problem is that i'm not actually sure whether i'm right or they're right.
